This is a disabled-friendly holiday cottage, having wide doors downstairs & a wet-room.

Stable Lodge details

A Grade-II listed detached barn that was converted in 1997 with many original beams remaining, giving it character and a cottage feel. (You can even see the pellet holes in one of the bedroom beams where in the past someone must have taken a pot shot at something) Situated at the entrance to Hele Barton Farm it has its own enclosed garden, lawn and patio. While it accommodates families it is also a perfect cosy place for just a couple.

With its four-poster, ensuite bedrooms and ‘away from it all’ feel, it is a great place for couples on a romantic break.

We have tried to make the cottage as disabled-friendly as possible. On the ground floor there is a disabled toilet and wet-room, with a wheeled shower chair and handrails. All doorways have been widened and the floors are level to make the rooms on the ground floor accessible for wheelchairs.

Double doors lead off into the fitted kitchen/diner with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, slow cooker, microwave, electric halogen hob and cooker. A pine farmhouse table gives this spacious and sunny kitchen a lovely feel and seats up to six people. The oil fired boiler is located outside the property and allows central heating. There is a land-line telephone and Free superfast WiFi.

To the right of the hall double doors open into the sitting room with 3 piece suite, 32in colour TV, DVD player. Patio doors leading to the enclosed garden make this a comfortable and child-friendly room. Some DVDs, games and books are provided.

Stairs with banisters on one side go up in three stages of three steps at a time, leading you up to two large family bedrooms. We can provide cot, highchair and stair gate on request.

One bedroom has a TV, double four-poster bed, a single bed with an ensuite bathroom. The other bedroom, also with an ensuite bathroom, has a double bed, single bed and guest bed under. This room overlooks the garden whilst the other has double aspect windows overlooking the entrance and surrounding farmland. Both bathrooms have baths with electric showers over.

Quality bed linen, white towels, loo rolls and cleaning products are provided.

Stable Lodge is open all year providing self-catering accommodation for short or longer breaks.

We are sorry we do not accept dogs/pets in Stable Lodge but please see our thatched cottage, White Witches, where one well behaved dog is welcome.

Happy stayers at Stable Lodge

“Fantastic cottage in an amazing location. Cottage very clean with everything you need. We had a great week. Perfect place to stay as a central location. To be able to head off in any direction for day trips. Great for the family. We also enjoyed eating in the two local pubs. We will definitely be recommending the cottage.”

White Witches

A delightful, dog-friendly, authentic thatched two-bedroom country holiday cottage with low ceilings and beams. Sleeping up to five. Situated at Hele Lane it has views down to the riverbank & across the valley. Outside there is large lawned secure garden which has beautiful flowers according to season, great to relax in & take in the clean Devon air.

White Witches details

Our detached thatched farm holiday cottage in Devon is the epitome of the chocolate box cottage, none more so than when the garden is in full bloom. We are often told photos don’t do this property justice, you have to see it to appreciate all it has to offer. The large lawned area is great for active children or just relaxing in. The age of the cottage is unknown but likely to be around 300 years. It has been upgraded to give accommodation for modern living whilst still retaining its charm & character. It is ideal for either couples or a family and as this is a dog friendly cottage there is no need to leave your pet at home.

In the heart of Mid-Devon, White Witches is situated in the little valley of Hele Lane on our traditional family working farm. A gate from the garden leads to open fields, where our sheep wander by, and to the Little Dalch river (bring your wellies) where you can stroll along its banks and look out for the wildlife – fish, ducks, herons or even be lucky enough to catch the flashing blue of a kingfisher or an otter. A great place to stay if you enjoy wildlife and all the countryside has to offer.

The accommodation in this period cottage is beautifully cool in summer and warm in winter. A porch and boot area leads you into the dining room, which boasts a small ornamental inglenook fireplace and seats six people at an oval pine table. Please note the ceiling in this room is only 6ft 1in.

Adjoining left is an oak fitted kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, toaster, slow cooker, built in electric cooker and hob, fridge/freezer and sufficient cutlery and crockery for up to six people.

Further on from the kitchen is a utility room with washing machine and tumble drier. A cloakroom with toilet and wash basin is also here, along with a glazed door leading out to the garden and patio with seating and picnic table.

The whole of the ground floor is tiled in beautiful slate.

Adjoining the dining room, one low step leads you down into the sitting room with woodburner, Freeview/BT TV and DVD. Leather sofas and chair provide comfortable seating. Telephone and superfast WiFi provided.

A door leads through to a small downstairs room with stairs leading up to two bedrooms and a family bathroom. The first bedroom is a delightful south facing room with double bed, low ceiling with exposed beams, and shower room en suite. The second is again a south facing room with double and single beds. The bathroom is situated between the two bedrooms and is therefore accessible from both.

The cottage can sleep five upstairs. We can also provide highchair and stairgate on request.

Storage shed for bikes. Quality bed linen, white towels, loo rolls and cleaning products are all included.

Dogs are welcome at White Witches, at an extra cost of £30.00.
